SIBERIAN HUSKIES – A LEGENDARY WORKING DOG

As a breed the Siberian Husky is well know for its awesome strength and working dog capabilities. Originally used in the coldest depths of Siberia, they served a very important purpose transporting food and supplies hundreds of miles, across country, usually in packs of 6 or 8 dogs at any one time. As time has moved on they are now more domesticated but still have their core breed traits. As a Husky owner you will need to enjoy walking as this breed of dog will need a lot of exercise, to keep settled. In addition to that it would be an extremely wise decision to have a very high and strong fence to your grounds as Huskies are the most incredible escape artists, in even the tightest of places.

The visual appearance of a Husky is one of the most stunning in the world of dogs. With their dazzling blue eyes, sometimes bi eyed (one blue, one brown) and there signature facial mask colourings, they make a beautiful looking dog. Quite often mistaken for Alaskan Malamutes, the Husky is much more refined and athletic looking, strong, yet fast and dynamic, the Malamute is a lot thicker set and built purely for strength.

YOUR HUSKY DOG PENCIL DRAWING – A PERFECT SUBJECT

The stunning features of a Siberian Husky as outlined above, are what will give your Husky dog drawing its appeal. When I create your pencil pet portrait, I will capture the eye colour, face mask markings and fur tones in finite detail, giving you a Husky pet portrait you will be overjoyed with. Obtaining great reference for these features is key to me capturing them accurately. I normally work off 3-4 photographs at different angles and if possible in different lighting conditions. These photos can either be digital or photographic prints or both if available, the more photos you have the better. Please view my photo guide as this may help you when taking your photos for reference.

In an ideal situation, taking photos of your Husky is best done outside in natural daylight. I find very often taking photos inside with artificial lighting can create yellowish casts onto pale colours, as well as reflections off anything nearby distorting the true colouration of your photograph.

Your Husky pet portrait can be created in crisp black and white or in glorious full colour, and at whatever size you like. If you have an unusual size or shape you would like your pet portrait please just give me a call I will be happy to oblige.

HUSKY DOG PENCIL PORTRAITS – WHICH POSE TO CAPTURE

HEAD SHOT

With the natural marking of a Siberian Husky, a head shot pet portrait can be the perfect pose to capture your beautiful dog. It is a very popular type of pose I am often asked for, mainly due to it focusing on the eyes, and unique character of your Husky.

FULL BODY SHOT

A full body shot is also an excellent pose to choose for you Husky pet portrait, as this will show all its wonderful markings and fur in great detail. Whether the pose is of your Husky sitting looking towards the camera, or laying on its bed, showing its strength and stature as a powerful working dog will be abundant. Capturing your Husky in a favoured pose can be tricky, as some Huskies can be quite photo shy, but whether you’re using a smartphone or SLR camera, ensure the photo is crisp and in focus, so I can capture every detail from the reference. If you are in doubt about the photo quality please feel free to get in touch and email them over, I will tell you straight away and help with any guidance if I can.

ACTION SHOT

This is my favourite type of dog portrait, capturing their agility, dynamic strength can make the perfect piece if artwork of your Husky. You may need to do a few practice photos first and fiddle with the settings of your camera, as capturing a leaping dog will need a very fast shutter speed or sports mode to get a focused picture with no blur. The main body of the dog can be slightly out of focus as long as the head and key features of your husky are in focus, a slight blur to the body will help reflect the movement in the artwork. Please view my photo guide page, it may prove to be useful in giving you some key advice on capturing the perfect reference to use in artwork.
