SOME OF MY RECENT COMMISSIONS

Below is just a brief selection of some of my more recent artwork commissions. As you can see there is a distinct focus on animals, dog portraits and human portraiture, but I have undertook a look of varied artworks over the years, covering everything from caricatures through to landscapes and hollywood action subjects, so please feel free to discuss your artwork subject with me, no matter what the subject.

GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG DRAWING – ANNIE

Annie is a fine example of a traditional german shepherd, with her beautiful brindle colouring to her body along with the darker tones to her head make for a stunning german shepherd portrait. Created at A3 size as a surprise Christmas present in full colour pencil crayon. The artwork was finished in a complementary cream mount with a washed oak frame, setting the portrait of perfectly.

BOXER DOG DRAWING – ANNIE

Dougal the boxer, a stunning example of this crazy breed. Boxer dogs have very fine wiry hair, giving a wonderful sheen to his coat and overall appearance. Created as a surprise christmas present, this artwork was created at A2 in full colour pencil crayon and framed and mounted in a complementary colour to present the artwork at its very best.

CHILD PENCIL PORTRAIT DRAWING – A3 GRAPHITE PENCIL DRAWING – FLOWER GIRL

This beautiful flower girl took 65 hours and was drawn in more of a hyperrealistic style rather than my usual photorealism. The commission was supplied with a 2″ single mount and framed in an antique oak frame. It is now one of my personal portfolio collection.

GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG DRAWING – A2 FULL COLOUR PENCIL PORTRAIT OF KAISER 

This wonderfully vivid composition took 67 hours and has an incredible amount of detail. The nature of a German Shepherd fur is reflected perfectly, showing its thick glossy coat, with its separating chest fur gives an extremely high level of realism. The commission was supplied with a cream 2″ mount and a 3″ thick washed oak frame.

CAT PENCIL PORTRAIT

A quick cat pencil drawing I undertook in about 14hours, the reference had incredible detail which I really wanted to capture, with a defined focus on its nose and face. The A3 black and white cat portrait was sketched in graphite pencil and is now in my personal portfolio.

CHILD PENCIL PORTRAIT DRAWINGS

A great pencil portrait, this young boy has an incredible cheeky smile and such amazing character to his face. Created at A3 in black and white graphite pencil, this commission took 26hours to complete. The customer was overjoyed with the result and now has it hanging in his home pride of place in the centre of a family photo wall.

WILDLIFE PENCIL DRAWINGS – NICO THE LOWLAND GORILLA

This commission is of the wonderful ‘Nico’ he was a Lowland Gorilla who lived at Longleat Safari Park until 2018, where he passed away aged 56 years old. This drawing was a labour of love and took me 65hours to complete. I wanted to do a drawing of Nico for some time after I had heard about his passing and once I soured good reference I was away. I am hoping to donate it to Longleat Safari Park to hang in their entrance.

COLOURED PENCIL PORTRAITS – PEAKY BLINDERS / THOMAS SHELBY

This drawing was one for my personal portfolio, being a huge fan of the TV series, Peaky Blinders. The compositions was created at A2 in full colour pencil crayon and was a true labour of love, taking an epic 145hrs to complete.

HUSKY DOG PORTRAIT DRAWING – STORM THE SIBERIAN HUSKY

This pencil portrait in black and white is a study of my Siberian Husky ‘Storm’. Drawn when he was only 12 weeks only it captures his cheeky nature and boisterous spirit. Created at A3 taking 34 hours, the artwork was double mounted and framed and now hangs in my home.

SPRINGER SPANIEL PENCIL DRAWING – ‘HOLLY’ THE SPRINGER SPANIEL

My first commission after a 14 year break, this drawing was a present for a friend. Holly who is now 14years old, still enjoys getting out and about for walks in her dog buggy. The drawing was created at A3 and shows ‘Holly’ with her most favourite thing in the whole world, her tennis ball. The drawing took 22 hours and supplied double mounted and framed.

PEOPLE PORTRAIT DRAWING – RUSSEL

This A3 black and white portrait is of my late uncle Russel. Created as a gift for my cousin using extremely old and small 5×4″ photo prints, it took a serious amount of both time and concentration to capture his true character. The finished artwork was mounted and framed and now hangs in my cousins dining room in pride of place.

This A2 full colour portrait is of my wife Jennifer. Created at A2 using coloured pencil and gouache, it was my first ever coloured portrait drawing, taken from a range of still photographs. The artwork took 27 hours and is now in my personal portfolio of artwork.

An A2 full colour pencil drawing of david the 8 year old brown labrador. The customer wanted the colour, highlights of the fur and character of the dogs face to be emphasised more than on the photograph. The composition took 39 hours to complete over 4 weeks and was delivered to the customer mounted and framed.
