    PROFESSIONAL PET DRAWINGS

Welcome to pet drawings by Personal Artworks UK, I am a professional artists who specialises in pet drawings of all kinds. Over the years I have drawn all manner of pets, from dogs through to cats, horses and even rabbits. So if you’re looking for a beautifully crafted pet drawing, no matter what type of pet you have, you have come to the right place.

A lot of artists on both social media and across the internet profess to be great at this or that, I don’t, I simply ask you to look at my gallery and read some of my testimonials, I could tell you how amazing I am all day but its not my opinion that matters, its the opinion of my previous customers.

A lot of my customers love the idea of having a hand drawn pet drawing of their adored animal, but are not quite sure where to begin. Then, there are some customers who have the exact photo, size and finish they want for their drawing from the off. Either way I am happy to advise and discuss things with you about the best way to achieve the perfect drawing for you, and don’t worry, no matter what your pet is, it will never be as unusual as some I have drawn.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE PET DRAWINGS

Pets are a huge part of people lives, almost to the point, and quite rightly so, they are treated like another member of the family, and in some cases the most important member. Due to this huge love of pets across the world, its is quite common for pets to be photographed a lot, alone, with other pets, in family photos, basically anywhere they can be, which in turn has given rise to them flooding social media. However this pet adoration is not a new thing and stretches back a lot further than you would imagine.

Some of the oldest paintings of pets and animals are as old as 19,000 years old. The majority of these, as you would imagine are quite raw renditions found in caves and other rustic environments, and can be as many as 500-600 different studies in each finding. Although these animal works of art don’t show the animal in a domestic setting similar to today, they do highlight the fact they have always been seen as a close counterpart to the human in all areas of life. Some of the earliest drawings of animals ever discovered were found in Babylon about 5000 years ago, in 3400BC, these were more farm animal orientated, such as goats, boars and horses, which in the works play a significant part in human life.

The first domestic animal or pet to be found in artwork, were cats during Egyptian times. Due to their admiration by royalty during this period they were held in quite high esteem and therefore played a major role in the lives of royalty. This gave cats an elevated status within the Egyptian society and only the Pharoah could own one, which in turn gave rise to them being favoured by the general population of Egypt. This led to them becoming more prevelant within artwork of the time all across Egypt and surrounding countries.

In 800-900BC it was the Greeks that introduced dogs into the world of art, through sculptures, mosaics, pottery figurines and various other artworks. The Greeks displayed the dog to be more of a domesticated animal and featured in many pieces of art within the Roman Empire in 900 BC. History tells that it was the Greeks who initially looked to their dogs as more of a companion rather than a working animal, or a ferule animal who lived semi wild.

Today posing for photos with our pet is a pastime that stems back hundreds of years. Nor is the fascination with having a pet portrait commissioned, displaying your pet alone of with its human companion. Its just today you don’t have to be nobility in order to do this. But looking briefly at this fascination with pets, its quite a beautiful thing, the fact that for hundreds of years we have emotionally attached ourselves to pets and treated them as true companions.

WHY HAVE A PET DRAWING COMMISSIONED?

The reason people want a pet drawing varies so much, some people just want a portrait of their pet to remember them as they may have passed or some may want a drawing commissioned for a friend or loved one who is particularly close to that pet. The reason for ordering a pet drawing doesn’t really matter, the main thing is you get exactly the right drawing for you and at personal artworks UK I guarantee to create you a pet drawing that will exceed your expectations.

    THE PERFECT GIFT

The majority of commissions I undertake are to be presents for a friend or loved one. A personalised drawing is a gift like no other, its unique to that person and usually has quite a strong emotional attachment as well. Many drawings I have completed bring a tear or two to the people receiving them, due to the subject being a pet they have loved and lost, or just a pet they hold so dear to their heart. Achieving that kind of reaction with my artwork is what I aim for in every piece, because for me it’s a reaction that speaks a thousand words, but more importantly says to me, Ive got it just right!

    SIZE IS IMPORTANT

A lot of customer are stuck at this point, they usually know the subject they want and even the exact photo, but the size they are never too sure about. I mean, if you think, there are hundreds of different sizes available, standard sizes, non standard sizes, metric sizes, imperial, it can all be a bit confusing. The most popular size my customers go for is A3 (297mm x 420mm – 30cm x 42cm) or if you’re talking in my language, 16×12″ approx. This is a great size, even when mounted and framed it isn’t too big that it takes over, it is also perfect for 1-2 subjects to be in the drawing, at a good enough size to get a lot of detail in. Take a look at the prices/order page for more ideas.

I NEED MY PET DRAWING URGENTLY IS THAT OK?

Dependant on when your pet drawing is needed I can work to quite tight timeframes. This also depends on what size and style you would like your drawing. To give a rough idea, an A3 black and white pencil portrait with one subject can be done in as little as two weeks, mounted and framed as well. Then moving to the other end of the scale if you are looking for a more dramatic A2 drawing (16×24″) in full colour with up to 4 subjects, this can take 8-10 weeks. But that said dependant on what you want and when you want it, I would always suggest giving me a quick call and we can discuss things properly. I can happily say I have never not been able to achieve any of my customers requests in terms of timeframes, even if it means burning a bit of midnight oil to achieve them.

PET DRAWINGS ARE EXPENSIVE THOUGH, AREN’T THEY?

Again it depends what you are looking for, but I can say for the quality of work you will receive from Personal Artworks UK, I am one of the cheapest on the internet.
As mentioned previously, the most popular size my customers choose is A3 (16×12″ approx) and for a beautifully crafted black and white drawing of one subject, ie a dog or a cat, it will cost £425 and thats mounted and framed professionally, inc delivery. (See prices/order page for details) Once you have chosen to commission a pet drawing with Personal Artworks UK you will not look back. I offer a full guarantee on all my work, and give proofs to every customer at incremental stages of the drawing. If at any stage of the drawing you are not happy with any aspect of it, i will adjust and alter it until you are completely satisfied. I offer this guarantee to all my customers on the basis I have never had to adjust any of my drawings, I put my entire soul into every piece and guarantee, I will create a drawing that will be so emotive you won’t believe it.

WHAT GUARANTEE DO YOU GIVE I WILL LIKE MY PET DRAWING?

This is quite a valid question really, why would you invest in commissioning a bespoke piece of art that you don’t actually like. This is one of the main reasons why the photograph you choose is extremely important. Its a pose that you are really happy with and will enjoy looking at when it is hung on your wall.

That aside, once the pet drawing is underway, at incremental stages of the drawing I will send you updates showing you progress. At anytime when these proofs are sent across to you, if there is anything you are not completely happy with or would like adjusting I will do this at no extra charge, to ensure you are completely happy with the final piece. Obviously changes to the composition such as adding or removing a subject from the drawing this will have to be charged extra.

Before you start the whole process feel free to give me a call, I will be happy to talk over any issues you have and answer any queries.
