A professionally hand drawn pencil portrait can make for a beautiful piece of artwork. I work to capture the smallest of details to make for the most amazing pencil portrait drawing. Capturing that individual expression or mood of the subject is something I work hard to recreate perfectly.
When it comes to quality, I aim to achieve the most photo-realistic pencil drawing, but it is essential the reference is of the highest quality as well, if the detail isn’t in the photo I cannot capture it in the drawing.
When I work on any pencil drawing, having great reference allows me to capture the most amount of detail, making them the perfect drawing of people from photos.
When you choose a photo for me to use as reference for your portrait drawing please make sure it has the most amount of detail possible. This way I can transform your photo into the most amazing pencil portrait drawing for you. Creating a drawing of people has a certain magic to it, transforming a photo into a drawing adds another dimension. The drawing has an extra spark and a raw beauty that simply cannot be captured in a photograph, simply by using the natural character of graphite pencil.
When I undertake the drawing I use 1 main photograph as the central reference for the pose, but please feel free to send 2-3 photos so I can get a more global idea of the look and character of the drawing subject. Having more than one source of reference allows me to capture those little nuances and details that make the pencil portrait drawing perfect in every detail.
Achieving the most realism when creating drawings of people is key to the entire undertaking. The realism is what gives each drawing its wow factor and what makes each portrait drawing so individual.
All the pencil portraits I undertake can be created with or without a background, but saying that most people prefer not to have a background, as this adds more emphasises to the face and gives more focus to the details and overall character of the portrait drawing.
If you want to combine photos, for example use the body and outfit from one photo and use the head and face from another photo this can be done. This is often the case as many people don’t have the perfect reference to create the ideal people portrait drawing.
As you will see with all my work, I work to the smallest of detail, my aim is to get the drawing as close the the photo as humanaly possible, but exceed the realism of the photograph by adding the natural qualities of the finest quality drawing pencils available.
You can be assured I will exceed you expectations in both quality of the portrait drawing and also the realism and likeness of the subject, and remember if you are not 100% happy, I will adjust the drawing until you are.

A portrait drawing can make for one of the most personal and special gift that can be given. A drawing of someone special in your life, or someone that has passed can be a very emotive gift, that will be treasured and admired every day.
The majority of orders I do are for gifts, for either birthdays or christmas. Nowadays people want to send a gift that is unique, something special that no one has ever given before. Thats why a pencil portrait drawing ticks every box, its both unique, and can bring joy to the view on a daily basis.
If you are wanting to give the gift of a pencil portrait for a gift, please let me know the date you require the drawing when sending your initial enquiry. That way we can be sure that the timeframes are met.
People portraits in pencil are my favourite subject, simply as the reactions I get are so wonderful, due to the emotion that each and every portrait brings out of the person receiving it. Most artists work to quite a good level of realism, but I am not happy unless when I look at the drawing and it looks almost identical to the photograph I an using for reference.
From an early age I have always looked to achieve hyper realism with my drawing and its only now I have reached a level I am happy to call hyper realism. Obviously as mentioned earlier, the finished portrait can only have this level of realism if the reference reflects it, so don’t forget if your wanting the perfect pencil portrait then get the perfect reference.
